Spotted Lanternfly - What Homeowners Can Do Right Now

Homeowners are on the front lines of defense against the invasive Spotted Lanternfly (SLF), a pest that poses significant threats to fruit production and grapevines. We already know we have these pests in Kernersville, and managing SLF populations is crucial. Right now, homeowners can tackle adults by spraying them directly with insecticidal soap or using a wet/dry vacuum to capture and drown them in soapy water.

Note: Kernersville residents no longer need to report SLF found on their property. Other Forsyth County residents and residents in other NC counties should report suspected SLF to the NC Department of Agriculture. A photo is required for reporting. If you are unable to get a photo of the insect, please submit a photo of the area where the insect was seen.
