Forsyth County Government hosts ASPIRE interns

Four ASPIRE interns worked at various Forsyth County Government departments this summer, gaining valuable knowledge and experience from their internships.

ASPIRE WS is a paid internship program for juniors and seniors in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools, coordinated and managed by Greater Winston-Salem Inc., that provides opportunities for students to gain job skills and explore career choices.

This summer’s Forsyth County Government interns were Makya Watts and Aeixia Bramble, who attend Kennedy High School, and Malaki Petty and Achilles Amador, who attend Mt. Tabor High School. They worked in the Central Library, the Department of Social Services, Tax Administration and the Board of Elections.

ASPIRE WS includes a Work Ready Credential program that teaches knowledge and skills for workforce readiness while also helping students with career planning and goal setting. Students who complete the program become eligible to interview for ASPIRE WS summer internships. Interns are guaranteed at least $10 an hour wage.
