Synopsis and Discussion

High pressure continues to dominate the weather pattern over the Carolinas today, keeping air quality levels in the upper Code GREEN range. The Triad will remain on the eastern side of an upper level ridge centered over the Mississippi Valley tomorrow and through the weekend. Some upper level disturbances diving in from the northwest may bring some cloud cover to the Triad at times, but skies should otherwise stay clear and dry with temperatures remaining near normal for this time of year. Persistent north to northeasterly winds should continue to usher in relatively clean air from the northeastern United States, with enough low-level wind dispersion to keep local ozone production in check. With that said, expect ozone and particle pollution levels to remain in the Upper Code GREEN range through Sunday. A few hours each afternoon may reach lower Code YELLOW AQI, but the shortening daylight hours typically observed through September will continue to make it tougher to sustain for a daily average. Air Monitoring Data

The Forsyth County Office of Environmental Assistance and Protection is making data available from the county's air monitoring network as a public service. These data represent the hourly data set from all of the sites within this network. Data from Triad sites outside of Forsyth County are collected by the North Carolina Division of Air Quality.
